La Grande Bechade
In a prime position at the base of the world famous Lascaux hillside, surrounded by wonderful views this spacious property has the peaceful look and feel of being in the heart of the country, yet you are only a short walk into Montignac town centre this gives you the best of both worlds.
Montignac is a pretty and lively historic market town, spanning both sides of the Vezere river its buildings date back to the 14th century, on the left bank the old priory and convent are reminders of it's past commercial importance when it was a terminus river port. Hire a canoe or kayak in the town and enjoy a leisurely paddle along the river to a designated pickup point, you choose how far you wish to travel.
Festivals and exhibitions are held throughout the season making it a ideal family base in high season, whilst peaceful at other times. The evening of Bastille Day [14th July]there is a magnificent firework display on the banks of the Vezere and live bands outside most of the bars whilst at the end of July Montignac holds the annual International Folk/Dance Festival and it's streets are alive with dance troops and bands from all over the world.
Cyclists and walkers enjoy this area as there are many designated walks and cycle routes available.
The Vezere Valley has been classified 'foremost prehistoric site in the world' by UNESCO and is full of history and architectural treasures, plus you are central for a wealth of tourist attractions to suit all age groups and tastes, from chateaux to gabarre cruises, wine tasting to adventure playgrounds, lazing on a lakeside beach to horse riding the choice is yours.
Downstairs
Large through lounge/diner with wood burning stove, comfortable seating, TV, DVD, music centre and numerous light reads, modern well equiped kitchen,seating up to 6 people, highchair available. French doors lead onto large south west facing garden with alarmed pool[unheated],gazebo,outdoor dining facilities and loungers.
Upstairs
Two double bedrooms, one with double bed, one with two singles, separate showeroom/wc, travel cot, play pen and baby bath available. Both bedrooms have air cooling fans and there is an hairdryer provided.
Bed linen included, & 1 bath & 1 hand towel per person are provided within the price, extra towels can be hired for a small fee.
The bed settee converts into a double bed if needed.
La Grande Bechade Grange
The property is well maintained and comfortably furnished, with relaxation in mind, there is tv/dvd and a selection of light reads and games, a selection of DVD's are available from the owners if required. The 8m x 4m alarmed pool is situated 6 metres from the rear of the gite and is shared with the ajacent holiday cottage [ max 4 people ], sufficient sun loungers are available for full occupation of cottages. The discreet & friendly english owners are readily available should you need any assistance or local imformation.
